MOON DOES NOT SHINE A LIGHT

A third claim that critics use is that the quran says the moon gives off light (some key arabic words in brackets):

Blessed is He Who made constellations in the skies, and placed therein a Lamp [siraaj] and a Moon giving light [noor] (25:61)
It is He Who made the sun to be a shining glory and the moon to be a light [noor] (of beauty), and measured out stages for her; that ye might know the number of years and the count (of time). Nowise did Allah create this but in truth and righteousness. (Thus) doth He explain His Signs in detail, for those who understand. (10:5)
See ye not how Allah has created the seven heavens one above another, and made the moon a light [noor] in their midst, and made the sun as a lamp [siraaj]? (71:15-16)

Critics interpret these verses to say that the moon shines light.[14][15] Muslims interpret these verses to be saying the moon reflects light from the sun, and not that it produces its own light.

This is extremely simple. If you knew Arabic, you would know that "siraaj" is something that PRODUCES light. "Noor" just means light. The Holy Prophet Muhammad (may peace be upon him) - is described in the Qur'an as Siraaj and a Noor. He produces his own light (Siraaj), and he also reflects God's light (Noor). Like a halogen lamp - it has it's own light, but it also has reflectors. By no means does the Qur'an state that the moon is a "Siraaj" or light producer, but a reflector.

Funny, i know arabic and i know that Noor means light.. Noor does NOT mean something that reflect light, it means Light and when you say that the God created the moon with light within it (sora71-aaya 16) is abviously WRONG.

It doesn't matter. Anaxagoras, an ancient Greek philosopher, suggested this 1000 years before the Quran even existed. And Anaxagoras work actually involved detailed explanations why he believed the moon reflected light. It wasn't just a simple verse or two. That's what the Quran is, a bunch of vague statements that people then try to use to claim that it has some scientific value.

What a joke if you know the arabic and you do not understand that Qamar is masculine, actually FIHINNA (you are translating as) WITHIN (it's referring to feminine)in aaya 71:15 Which is actually pointing to SAMAWAT in the previous ayah.

So the complete translation will be 71:15-16 "Did you not see how God created seven skies in layers? And He made the moon to illuminate in them, and He made the sun to be a lit flame."

Noor means "borrowed light" Dr Zakir said.

What the hell is this story between noor and light. And who's Zakir said??

According to the big Kamouss of Arabic litteratur:
Noor means: The light which doesn't come from a source, but from an abject which is exposed to light. Means Moon DOES NOT produce light but reflect the sunss.

Light: Thaw in arabic
Reflected light is: Noor

Please don't be like trains with no driver.

Dead body of FIRON - Sign of Allah
सारी सृष्टि के मालिक को ईश्‍वर कहते हैं, और उसके सबूत भी सृष्टि में हर तरफ मिलते रहते हैं, जैसे कि लगभग 1430 साल पहले कुरआन में फिरऔन के बारे जो जिकर आया वह साबित हुआ, उसे साबित करने वाले वैज्ञानिक डाक्‍टर मौरिस बोकाये मुसलमान हुए, जो थोडी समझ रखते हैं उनके लिए यह सबूत भी काफी है

Do you not understand that Arabic is a complicated language, and that it can't be literally translated? Of course the Quran would be false if it was literally translated. Think of it as reading Shakespeare.

The article is a weak effort already covered elsewhere.

I hope you, and such likes, keep trying to find mistakes in the Quran as you'll not be successful. This ultimately affirms the Quran to be from God!

Anaxagoras wrote theories on physics, some correct & others not. And having learned about meteorites he described the sun and moon as fiery stones - obviously incorrect!

As regards the phases of the moon, his explanation could only have been complete
if he had known that the moon is spherical ; in fact, however, he considered the
earth (and doubtless the other heavenly bodies also) to be flat

To his
true theory of eclipses Anaxagoras added the unnecessary assumption that the
moon was sometimes eclipsed by other earthy bodies below the moon but invisible
to us. In this latter assumption he followed the lead of Anaximenes. The other
bodies in question were probably invented to explain why the eclipses of the
moon are seen oftener than those of the sun.

Anaxagoras's
cosmogony contained some fruitful ideas. According to him, the formation of the
world began with a vortex set up, in a portion of the mixed mass in which " all
things were together," by Mind. This rotatory movement began at one point and
then gradually spread, taking in wider and wider circles. The first effect was
to separate two great masses, one consisting of the rare, hot, light, dry,
called the aether, and the other of the opposite categories and called air. The
aether took the outer place, the air the inner. Out of the air were separated
successively clouds, water, earth, and stones.
The
dense, the moist, the dark and cold, and all the heaviest things, collect in the
centre as the result of the circular motion, and it is from these elements when
consolidated that the earth is formed. But after this, " in consequence of the
violence of the whirling motion, the surrounding fiery aether tore stones away
from the earth and kindled them into stars "

Anaxagoras
conceived therefore the idea of a centrifugal force, as distinct from that of
concentration brought about by the motion of the vortex, and he assumed a series
of projections or "hurlings-off" of precisely the same kind as the theory of
Kant and Laplace assumed for the formation of the solar system.

In other
matters than the above Anaxagoras did not make much advance on the crude Ionian
theories. " The sun is a red-hot mass or a stone on fire." " It is larger (or
'many times larger') than the Peloponnese." He considered that "the stars were
originally carried round (laterally) like a dome, the pole which is always
visible being thus vertically above the earth, and it was only afterwards that
their course became inclined "

These scientifc errors by Anaxagoras do not appear in the Quran!

where is gives a verse saying that the moon gives off light, this is what it means:

The glorious lamp of the skies is the sun; and next to it is the moon, which gives borrowed light. According to wikianswers, 7% of the light from the sun is reflected from the moon. The Quran didn’t say that the moon Produced light, just that it was a source of light, which is true 100%.

The Sun (of surface temperature of 5778 K) and the Moon (of orbital period of 27 days) are never going to join with each other because the Sun and Moon have already joined 355 years ago in India!
According to Prophet Muhammad, Isa Ruh Allah was supposed to wear two garments. Therefore, the first garment of Isa Ruh Allah was the physical body of Devchandra Mehta himself. However, upon leaving his first garment, Isa Ruh Allah had to wear his second and final garment by entering into the physical body of Meher Raj Thakur! And this is how the Sun (Mahdi) and the Moon (Isa) would join together!

Hi, if noor means reflected light then Allah is also a reflected light because in 24 35 Quran, Allah calls himself a noor.

The words are 'light' and 'lamp' are used and these are defined in English as two different things.

LIGHT :

The natural medium emanating from the Sun and other very hot sources (now recognised as electromagnetic radiation with a wavelength of 400-750 nm), within which vision is possible.

LAMP :

A device that generates heat, light or other radiation.
A device containing oil, burnt through a wick for illumination; an oil lamp.
